Are you watching Downton Abbey yet?

I've been up to my eyeballs in emails & Skype calls & spreadsheets this week .... I'm getting the class schedule & agenda & teaching staff ready for Sewing Summit 2012 and it's been stressful. Fun, but stressful. It's really hard to figure out how to balance a good mix of classes, panels, social time, meals, down time, etc, etc etc. Event planning is not for the faint of heart! I'm so glad to have Ali & Megan on my staff - I would really be going bonkers without them.

In between my computer & sewing time this week I've been watching Downton Abbey. Are you watching it yet? I admit, I put it off for weeks until finally so many of my friends were raving about it I knew I had to check it out.

It's a PBS show, currently airing the second season on Sunday nights in the US. The first season is all on Netflix streaming (how I watch it), free through Amazon Prime streaming, or on DVD. I watched the full first season in just a few days, although I'm starting over & rewatching it before I start on the 2nd season. The 2nd season is on Hulu or PBS.com.

I love everything about it - I love the relationship the sisters have with each other, I love Lady Grantham, I love the sassy Grandma ("What is a week end?"), I love the budding relationship between Anna and Bates. The costumes, the crazy cook, the gorgeous house & estate. It's just a good show. Are you a fan? If you're not watching it, you should be!

  2. Thanks to twitter I am watching it too. I love it and have found myself speaking or at least thinking in a British accent. I've watched episodes 1-4 of season one but need to rewatch before I go on.

    1. Yup, this is why I'm making myself re-watch S1 too. Watching while sewing means I'm not always paying 100% attention. ;]

    1. The first season is only 7 episodes! You'd totally be able to get through it in a month. (I got through it in 2 days - ha!)

  7. We're big DA fans at The Aerie! The Beloved was most interested, but I tagged along and have really enjoyed it.

  9. All you gals who are just starting to watch are SO lucky!!! I started with the first season as each show aired on PBS, then had to wait for season 2 with MUCH anticipation, and no one I know is hooked on it yet! I'm not going to spoil Season 2 for you, but I WILL give my opinion - Lord Grantham is the best!!! (by the way, check out the PBS website - next Monday he's doing a live online Q&A session at 1pmEST!!!)

  10. I'm totally hooked! i watched S1 on netflix last fall and thankfully I didn't have too long to wait for S2. I've heard from my bloggy friends across the pond that S2 ends with what they're calling a Christmas special. Love Lord and Lady Grantham, Mary and Bates and even Mary is growing on me. Though I do expect Mary to do something completely and totally selfish any minute.

  13. Oh I just love it Erin. I just started watching it this week too and am 4 episodes into season 1. I did get James to watch the first episode with me the other night so I supposed we will watch them together too.
I love the budding relationship between Anna and Bates too and just can hardly wait to watch it all. The only drawback is that I get NO SEWING DONE at all while watching because I can't tear myself away. :)

    1. I know! That's exactly the reason that I'm rewatching S1, since I was sewing & doing other things at the same time I want to make sure I caught EVERYthing. ;]

  14. I love this show! I watched the first season on PBS last year and am up to date on the second season so far. I can't wait to see if anything happens between the youngest daughter (blanking on her name) and the chauffeur :)

  15. Why oh why did you have to change my life? lol. I mean that as funny...I read your post. Ok ok ok I said, I will go watch the first episode. I didn't know the characters and there were sooo many of them, but it was interesting so I watched the 2nd episode and then the 3rd and by then, I was sucked in. Coming the web for groups and other friends who are watching. I love it! Thank you!
