Lots of you know that Sew, Mama, Sew! hosts a giveaway day a few times a year. Today is the day for the spring giveaway - so read carefully to find out what you can win from me and how you can enter.
I am a sucker for fabric in rainbow order! So for my Giveaway Day prize I'm giving away a rainbow charm pack of fabric straight from my personal stash - custom made just for YOU (the winner!). What this means is I'll be putting together a charm pack (5" squares) of various bright, fun, and cheery fabrics from my stash, and once I pull the winner - you'll have the chance to tell me YOUR favorite color, and then I'll make sure the charm pack has lots of charms in your favorite color in it, as well.
These pictures are just random pictures of fabric that's in my stash - but be assured that the winner's charm pack will be just as rad - I love bright, fun, cheery fabric and will make sure to put together a charm pack just as amazing as these pictures of fabric are. There'll be no less then 75 different 5" charms in the custom pack for you - with many hard to find fabrics included (Katie Jump Rope is my favorite line ever, and I'll make sure to sneak some charms of it in for you, too!)
What can you do with a charm pack of fabric? Lots of stuff! Make a simple patchwork picnic quilt. Chop it up and use it in various scrappy items. Make patchwork tea towels for your kitchen. If you're a garment sewist - patchwork the pieces together and make a fun dress or pair of shorts for a little boy! If you don't even sew - well, if you win you can just look at the pretty fabric!

ReplyDeleteMorning, Erin! We live in the Midwest and have season passes to a great amusement park called Holiday World. It is located in Santa Claus, Indiana. (It's always Christmas there!) It's always a big deal when the park reopens for the season. It has a water park and a regular amusement park. We go about once a week and really have so much fun. Thanks for your beautiful rainbow pictures. I have never made a rainbow quilt but I can see making a color wheel or something really neat with fabrics like those. Thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteSummer... man I've been looking forward to summer for MONTHS! I LOVE getting outside with my husband and my dog. We go hiking, biking, jogging, have picnics, go play in the pond at the dog park, go kayaking, finally get a tan at the pool, drive down to the beach... so much fun to be had outdoors!! After a long winter of working and short dark snowy/rainy evenings afterward, I'm looking forward to all of the above and more :)
Summer means BBQs!!! Although in the UK it may also mean gale force winds =(. Hear's hoping for lots of the sunny stuff xx

we have hot dog night in our town. One night all the businesses set up grills on the sidewalks and grill hot dogs. You can eat as many as you can until they are all gone. Some places will have chili or taco toppings. Yummy! Less than a month away.

ReplyDeleteIn the summertime I love to chase around the laberynth that is our neighbourhood and search for the ice cream van man. You can hear him but you can't see him and he never, ever comes up our street. Makes the ice cream taste that much better when you finally do find him and stroll home again with treats in hand.

ReplyDeleteFavorite thing about summer...county fair. We live in a rural area and have an awesome 4H fair in July. My kids are too little to participate yet but my husband and many of our friends are very active in running it, so we spend a lot of time at the fairgrounds. Biggest bonus...no carnival allowed so no crazy spinning rides, loud music, or odd crowds, just great kids doing great things. Awesome giveaway, thanks!

ReplyDeleteWhat I like about summer - now that I live back in the Eastern part of the country - is the Fire flies!! I remember them as a child in NJ and did not realize how much I missed them when I lived out west. They bring back many wonderful memories. (That charm pack is sweeeeet!)

ReplyDeleteWell Erin, the summers here are just too hot (47 degrees Celcius) so out winters are more like normal summers (around 28 degrees celcius!) and when that happens we just love to get outside and picnic, bike ride and walk! I just LOVE rainbows, have a bit of a thing for them and have my fabric organised that way too!

ReplyDeletePopsicles and playing in the rain! Since I had my first child (almost 5 years ago), my childhood summer favorites have resurfaced. I love playing in the rain, but in Ohio it is only warm enough in the summer (I don't like being COLD and wet!) And on a hot hot hot day, nothing is as fun as eating a drippy popsicle!

I do like summer but it's still 6 months away. I do prefer the heat as oppose to the cold. The days are longer during summer and so we're outside more. Summer means beach to us as well. Thanks for the chance, this will make a lovely little quilt.

I love to be able to shower with the bathroom window open. Living in Utah, the bathroom window is usually tightly shut for about 8 months of the year. I love to get out of the shower, feeling clean, and being able to smell that beautiful summer smell.

What's NOT to like about summer? Hard to pick just one! I love not having to wear closed shoes and jackets, farmers markets, mint iced tea on a hot day, cold watermelon, and enjoying seeing my kitties finally have a nice sunny spot near the window to nap in!

ReplyDeleteWhat I love about summer: flip flops and toe nail polish, weekly rodeos, the town swimming pool is open, & long days for delicious BBQ!

ReplyDeleteThe thing I love about summer is warm afternoons out in the yard, harvesting vegetables from our own garden for our dinner while my son plays and laughs. I also love the sound of crickets and frogs and a good frappachino on a nice patio!
I love your rainbow giveaway! My "most anticipated" summer activity is growing tomatoes...so fabulous to eat them straight from the garden!

ReplyDeleteTo be completely honest, I hate summer. Always have. I could go on and on about the things I don't like about summer.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I do like about summer, is the freedom from schedules. In the evenings, when it's just starting to get dark, (at 8 PM), the kids are running around with the other kids in the neighborhood, and you feel no rush to get homework done, baths, clothes for the next day, rush, rush, rush.
Just being able to relax, and let everyone do what they want to do.
Oh, and my favorite color is 'blurple'. Anything in the blue/purple color range. Just makes me happy.

Every summer my granddaughter comes to visit and one of our many activities is sewing. She has decided she likes to quilt more than sew clothes so I imagine we will make a quilt.
