A decade of memories

Ten years ago we got married on the side of a mountain.

a decade

Together we've done great big things: (hike 17 miles to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite)

we made it to the top!

We've done really fun things: (have Angels season tickets and get to play baseball on the field at Angel stadium)

Marc in the Angels dugout

We've been on lots of good vacations: (Hawaii in 2003, 2007 & 2009, plus all up and down California lots of times - from Eureka to San Diego, Utah, Arizona, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado and Las Vegas)

We've celebrated graduations:  (Marc's BS, MS, and almost Phd)

walking out

And had fun pets:

yawn   Meet Bump

We've added a couple of knuckle heads to the family:

30 weeks

Who now are pretty great friends:

hanging with Mase

We've moved 5 times and really like where we are for now:

We've had season passes to Disneyland and eaten at the exclusive Club 33:

But we've also had fun enjoying the little things:

wait up!

We've celebrated 25 birthdays between the 4 of us:

and shared millions of hugs:

Done hundreds of miles in cars on road trips:  (this last picture of Marc is him waiting on the side of the road in the middle of the desert when we ran out of gas -- I told him that day I'd never let him live that down and this is me doing exactly that ;]  )

getting ready to go home     loading up the car
small car!     road trip

I've gotten flowers almost every single Friday all 10 years:

and awesome presents:

tiffany & co

We've made it through crazy hair phases:

mohawk = obstructing the view for erica

And crazy pregnancy cravings:

pregnant girl's ice cream sundae

We've apparently slept A LOT.

And eaten some really good food:

we eat

Ten years ago I married my best friend on the side of a mountain and even after all that we're still the same crazy kids we always were.  Love you, Marc!

If that post wasn't long enough for you -- two years ago on our 8th anniversary I wrote a bunch of fun memories about our wedding here. And if you want to be reminded of what an awesome husband I have you can read a birthday post about him here.

p.s. I've had my Flickr account since 2005 and with over 4,200 pictures in it can I just say what a beast this post was to write?  I could have included a hundred more pictures!

ETA: I debated on adding this from the get-go, but after already getting a snarky comment let me say:  Lest you think it's all been rainbows and butterflies: we've also lost jobs, gotten fired from jobs, broken bones, had our apartment catch fire needing the fire department called, had our car stolen -- twice, had fights, been to funerals, have had to have both of our beloved dogs put to sleep, been in a car accident that totaled our car and required Marc to be taken to the hospital in a neck brace in an ambulance, had our camera stolen with all our Hawaii pictures on it, been locked out of our car in Las Vegas, been dirt poor and have had 2 major surgeries.  But we survived. :]  And I just decided to focus on the happy things for this post!

  13. Who would leave a snarky comment? People are so bizarre aren't they? I suppose that is the risk when you put yourself out in the world, but geez. I have no problem with focusing on all the wonderful moments of your 10 years. I loved the post (even before the ETA paragraph, LOL). Wishing you another blessed 10 years!

  20. A lovely post !! We already know that lives not always a bed of rose, you are entilted to celebrate the good.

Happy 10th anniversary and many more to come.

  21. Congratulations! Wonderful post!

  22. What a beautiful testament to your amazing marriage and friendship! I loved having the opportunity to revisit so many fabulous memories that the two of you have shared. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life with us all over the past decade. Xoxo

  23. What a beautiful post, Erin. It brought back so many memories, good and bad, of the last 10 years. I'll never forget Marc coming inside and saying "Ummm, did somebody move the car this morning?" or scrubbing every inch of your main floor after the fire. I can't tell you how much I love you both, admire you both, am in awe of you both, and love to hear "Meemaw" from your gorgeous kids. Kudos for always seeing the best in each other and being able to laugh at every situation. I know the "best is yet to come" for you, and look forward to sharing it with you.

  24. I love this post! Aren't you so glad you went through all those photos? I'm glad you did. :)

  25. Happy Belated Anniversary! Glad to be able to share a bit of those memories through your blog post!

  26. Happy Anniversary.

Did you put club 33 in there just to make me jealous? :)

  27. What a great post! All relationships have good times and bad, what makes them last is always holding onto the good memories and letting the not so great stay in the background :) My husband and I will be married 10 years in December, it hasn't been all roses but that's life right?

I recently heard from a couple who have been married for 65 years that the secret to a good marriage is realizing that our partner is imperfect (and that's ok) and doing all that we can to every day be a positive force in each other lives.

    Congrats to you both!

  28. What a tremendous tribute for the 10 years and the beautiful family that you have created! And I think the positive focus is great because you are still together and still in love! It was great meeting you today with Emilie & I added you to the Utah Bloggers Rock at the Beehive Blog! See you on twitter! @BeehiveBlog
