I love to read

For as long as I can remember my mom was always reading books, I would see her reading all the time - before bed, on vacation, pretty much when ever she had a spare moment. I wish she would have kept a list of all the books she had read over the years - I'm sure it would be numbered into the thousands by now!

She must have installed that love of reading into me, because now I am the one that is always into at least 2 books at a time, and reading whenever I have a spare moment in between sewing and keeping up with my housework and taking care of Mason.

What I'm reading right now:

I have an online book club with my best girl friend, Darci, called Oh It Is Only A Novel. Have you been over the to visit us? You should! We each pick one book a month, and then post our reactions and thoughts about the book. It's a fun way that we can keep in touch and share something with each other even though we live so far apart now. She has totally been picking up my slack for me the past few months because I've been so busy, posting my book picks for me, but I've been reading all the books we've chosen and we've read some really good ones recently. Right now we just started this one:

But I am still about 1/3rd of the way into the previous pick, The Gargoyle, because it's a bit heavy and I find that I can't read too much of it at one time.

I also am in a local book club with a bunch of fun girls from my neighborhood, and we just finished a really good book, Little Heathens, a memoir about a little girl that grew up on a farm in the middle of the Depression. It was a great book, too.

Next month for that book club we're reading this book by Mitch Albom, which I think I have read before, but I won't know for sure until I pick it up and start it.

I also read a lot of books on my own, I'm constantly picking up books at the library that look interesting by their covers, or that I've heard about from a friend. I also tend to buy a lot of books based on them having a pretty cover. This works out well for my two huge bookcases I have in our front room, which I have organized by color because I think it looks neat.

I am a member of Shelfari
- which is a virtual book shelf that you can fill with the books you've read, the books you've planned to read, what you own, your wishlist, etc. It's fun to connect with my friends on there and see what they're saying about the books they're reading. If you're on there, find me and friend me!

*I wrote and posted this post yesterday, but then this morning I got an email from Darci freaking out that I had skipped a day for NaBloPoMo! What the heck, Blogger!? I guess that's what I get for hitting "post" and then running out the door late for a birthday party. Whatever, I'm still counting it!*

  1. I think it totally counts, it was all bloggers fault, good thing I emailed you huh???

I am still reading Gargoyle too, it is heavy, but good. I know the bees book will be a quick read so I have waiting to finish Gargoyle first.

Great shout out to OH! :)

  2. Gargoyle looks good. Adding it to my list. I need to be better about writing down my lists of books.
