rah! rah!

So the hometown boy David Archuleta made it to the final 3 in American Idol last night. Was there ever a question whether or not he was going to? I have to admit that I like the other David better, and think he's going to win it all, but I still like "little David" as Paula Abdul calls him.

Tomorrow the city of Murray and Fox news are putting on the Homecoming Pep Rally for David at his high school - Murray High. There are tons of festivities planned, from an opening from the band and cheerleaders of Murray High school, culminating with David taking off in a hot air balloon to take David "to the top" of American Idol (cheesy, much?). He's going to sing a few songs and there's going to be rally speeches by Governor Huntsman and Salt Lake County and Murray city's Mayors, too.

Who wants to go? Even just for the opportunity to be part of the 20,000 that are expected to show up and for a chance to spot a teensy little you on national TV! (Fox is going to be there taping for the segment on next week's American Idol show.) Here's the news article giving all the details about the stuff planned, and info on parking and the itinerary. Looks like the good stuff starts at 4:15 pm.

  1. We are planning on going, but I think the parking situation is going to be a joke. I could probably walk from my house easier than finding somewhere to park! Should be fun though. I wish it was going to be warmer though.

  2. And don't forget that David is going to sing the national anthem at the JAZZ game later that evening. Personally, I think whether he wins or loses, he'll have some kind of music contract before long. And thanks for the invite...I think I'll stay home and watch it on TV

  3. I forgot! American Idol is our family's "claim-to-fame", sort of. Greg Bemis teaches at Murray High, and has taught Little David. Judy Blackburn is the secretary at Woods Cross High School, and personally knows Carmen Rasmussen, one of the finalists a couple years ago. Big whoop, I guess.

  4. I will not be going. I have a fear of crowds with my foot. Someone will step on it. I just know it.

  5. Yeah! I am happy for David and Utah, too! Utah puts out some great kids :)!

I, too, like the other David a little better (at least his style of music), but have to support someone from home!
