The two openers were so-so ... the first guy I don't even remember his name, but the second guy was Bucky Covington -- he was from American Idol a few seasons ago. He was pretty good. He has his brother - Rocky - as his drummer. Ha ha, Bucky and Rocky!
Then there was the little intermission/bathroom break ... and then Dierks came on. He started out in the little stage extension so he was RIGHT next to us:
It was really cool. He puts on a very good show and spent a little time talking to the audience about why he wrote certain songs and what they meant to him. He's pretty upbeat and was running around the stage like crazy.
Towards the end he and his band came out to the stage extension part and played a bluegrass song .. it was very cute and they were pretty good. For anyone that watches Scrubs -- doesn't the drummer (the guy clapping his hands on the left) look exactly like Janitor? I swear it could have been him.
Then they played a slower song called "My Last Name" dedicated to the troops in Iraq and to his Grandpa that fought in the war. It was nice - and I actually tried out taking a little video with my camera. It's the first video I've posted to Flickr since they started accepting video a few weeks ago.
It was a great night and I'm definitely a big Dierks fan now. You can see the rest of my pictures at the Flickr set here. Thanks, Jill, for inviting me and reminding me how much I DO like country music! ;)
