Mason loves to dig and play with his shovel and rake. Every time we pull into the garage and I get him out of his carseat he makes a beeline for his shovel. He's been loving going over to the garden because he takes his little shovel and digs and digs and digs. We'd been talking about getting him a sandbox for the backyard and today when Marc came home from work he surprised us by bringing the wood and sand necessary to build one!

Marc, my dad and brother spent about an hour measuring, sawing, measuring more, drilling and securing together and awesome sandbox for Mason. Mason hung around the garage the whole time, watching the process and giving his input when necessary.

does it go here?

Moving the heavy thing into position and then 300 pounds of play sand later - Mase has an awesome sandbox right in his own backyard! At first he was a little hesitant to actually sit *in* the sand -- anyone that knows Mason knows that he doesn't really like to get dirty -- but once he discovered that he can build and dig and make stuff in it, he didn't want to leave. He cried when I had to take him inside for dinner and a bath. I think he's going to be spending a LOT of time out there this summer.

getting the hang of it.

  1. How fun! I bet he will love it :)

  2. That looks so fun- and fun for you to clean up all the sand that gets in everything! I think I'll have to give in for a sandbox this summer. I've been not wanting one because I don't want to have to clean them up from it- but that isn't very nice of me, and now with our giant park of a backyard (in 4 more days!), they'll be out getting dirty in it constantly whether I have one or not ;)

  3. I didn't even know that such a thing as play sand existed?! Can you and Marc be my parents? Is it too late to switch?

  4. That was so nice of Marc to surprise you guys with it. I know how much you hate sand and I hope it won't be to much for you. Mase sure will love it though, so fun.

  5. okay... i just checked out your last posts...

    1. i hope your mom makes a speedy recovery!

    2. i LOVED that last ep of the office!!!

    3. the sandbox is too cool! :) mia might need to go visit you guys this summer. :P

    4. he's talking so much!!! too cute! i love the mason dictionary. you're so lucky he says that he loves you! mia says, "i luuuuufffff...." and then she'll pause and say something like "bokley" (broccoli) or "chichen" (chicken)... it's usually food related, anyway. *sigh* she DID say once, "i luf you, daddy." but she never loves me. :( boohoo. heh.

    5. hope you had fun at your concert! and as an aside to YOUR aside, i JUST saw prince last saturday night. OMG. i had the BEST time. he is SO awesome.

    6. love your digital scrapbooking! it looks so cute :)

  6. How fun! I loved having one growing up! Can't wait to come build something with you!

  7. Cute, Cute, Cute - fun, fun, fun. That was my favorite thing to do as a kid - my brother didn't let me play with dolls - just 'trucks in the dirt'. BTW - we LIVE in SANDY - and you bought SAND? Get a sand castle maker - they are cool! (: Mommason
