This weekend we started a new family tradition and took Trax (Salt Lake's light rail transit system) downtown to see the lights at Temple Square. We went with our good friends Nathan and Shannon and their little girl, Corinne.

Mason's first experience on a train:

first time on the train

He LOVED it. He's so into trains right now and kept saying "Choo-choo, Mama! Choo-choo!"

It was freezing cold and we're still adjusting from the warm California winters, so we were all decked out in coats, gloves, hats, blankets and boots. Mason didn't mind being all bundled up because he was riding all comfy in the stroller:

We ate dinner at Z'Tejas at the Gateway and there were actually people playing in the fountains -- getting soaking wet! Crazy!

After dinner we walked over to Temple Square to ooh and ahh over the lights with a zillion other people. It was crowded but everyone was having fun and the lights were gorgeous.

We all got cold pretty quickly so we headed back to the train station to get a good seat for the way home -- we made it just in time before the Jazz game got out and the trains were packed!

It was such a fun night and I'm looking forward to doing it every year!
